Cuban filmmaker Fernando Pérez to be honored in Holguín

The work of Cuban film director Fernando Pérez will be honored during the 17th edition of the National Audiovisual Festival Por Primera Vez to take place in the city of Holguín from February 19 to 23.
Maylán Heredia, head of the promotion department at the Provincial Film Center, said at press conference that the event will have the presence of the Cuban filmmaker, who will teach a workshop on film direction. The opening day includes the screening of the feature film "El mundo de Nelsito".
Enrique Betancourt, communicator of the institution, explained that the program includes a tribute to the recently deceased Jorge Luis Sánchez, a filmmaker with an extensive career that includes more than 30 audiovisual productions and a participant in the previous edition of the contest.
The International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños will participate in the festival with the aim of giving information to young filmmakers from all over the country about the opportunities that the center offers in the training of professionals in Latin America, he added.
The nearly 20 theoretical spaces will take place at the Cine Martí and the Las Tres Lucías café, and some of the 35 works in competition will be presented at the Ateneo Cinematográfico, while the Casa de Iberoamérica will join the screening of feature films at night.
Sponsored by the Provincial Film Center of Holguín, the National Audiovisual Festival Por Primera Vez aims to promote film creation in the country and in its 17th edition it will be dedicated to the promotion and visualization of young Cuban filmmakers. (Source: ACN)
