New edition of Iberoarte Fair in Holguín with Mexico as guest of honor

The 24th edition of the Iberoarte International Handicrafts Fair will be held from October 8 to 24 at the ExpoHolguín fairgrounds, with Mexico as guest of honor and goldsmithing as the featured craft.
Danilo López Garcés, the event organizer, explained at a press conference that the fair, sponsored by the Holguín branch of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC), will include furniture, textiles, ceramics, graphic designs, and household items, among other popular offerings.
He added that the Lote 2026 Hall, a space dedicated to the visual arts, will open on October 20 and will be dedicated to the centennial of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, a figure honored in previous editions of the fair.
Among the new features are the "He Who Loves, Cares for, and Protects" contest, aimed at animal lovers, and the awarding of a prize to the 100th visitor every other day.
The jury will consist of Yanelis Esquijarosa Abradelo, an award-winning creator at previous Iberoarte events; Delsy Rojas, a long-time business manager; and Jorge Luis Betancourt, a restorer of musical instruments recognized in previous competitions for his artistic work.
Manuel Hernández Ramos, director of the FCBC in Holguín, recalled the beginnings of Iberoarte and highlighted the event's history and the highlights that have made it a fair eagerly anticipated by families in Holguín.
Iberoarte has established itself as the second most important craft fair in the country and each year exhibits the work of local artisans, in addition to including exchanges with foreign exhibitors interested in participating with works that reflect their cultural identity. (Source: ACN)
