Celestino Story Story Prize begins in Holguín

The 25th edition of the Celestino Short Story Prize will take place from June 10 to 15 in the city of Holguín with an extensive program of activities.
The contest, organized by Ediciones La Luz publishing house and the Literature section of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Holguín, has the collaboration of the Provincial Book Center (CPLL), the Provincial Directorate of Culture and the Provincial Cultural Support Unit (Upac).
Under the motto "Celestino takes flight", the event will be dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the contest's first winning story "Flora and the Angel" by the renowned writer and journalist Rubén Rodríguez, to the 40th anniversary of the death of Julio Cortázar and to the 110 anniversary by Onelio Jorge Cardoso.
Luis Yuseff , director of Ediciones La Luz, said at a press conference that the 37 competing works belong to authors from all over the country.
For his part, journalist Erian Peña said that the jury of the contest is made up of national and international writers such as the Mexican Mario Bellatin; the Santiago-born writer, Franco-Cuban filmmaker and novelist Eduardo Manet; the prominent Holguín writer Emerio Medina; the narrator and journalist and member of UNEAC Rub;én Rodriguez González, winner of the first edition of the contest; and Lourdes González Herrero, poet and storyteller, director of Ediciones Holguín.
The event includes the visual arts contest "My name is Celestino", with the participation of 25 works, which will be exhibited on June 10 in the Gallery of the House of the Young Creator, as well as panels, talks, book presentations and readings.
The award ceremony, which will take place on June 14, consists of the delivery of an accreditation diploma, 10 thousand CUP and the publication of the book (printed + e-book) by the publisher with payment of the respective copyright.
