The Provincial Center of Plastic Arts in the city of Holguín welcomed the collective exhibition of the Yeti community project founded 24 years ago by the artist Agustín Villafaña in Havana, which now has a headquarters in this eastern Cuban city.
Sponsored by the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), the project aims to involve the community, either as artists or as the public. It also develops workshops, classes, art salons, diploma courses, specializations, artistic productions, among other initiatives.
The main room of the Art Center exhibits works by artists such as Aníbal de la Torre, Nalia Martínez Grau, Ronald Guillén Campos, Luis Santiago Peña, Yanelis Esquijarosa Abradero, Juan Carlos Anzardo Escalona, Manuel Mendoza Xiquez, among others, who present their creative abilities through wood carving, book art, the use of natural elements and other techniques.
The exhibit presents a new vision towards Cuban culture and tradition, nature, the figure of women, suffering, beauty and everything that awakens human sensitivity.
In his opening words, Juan Carlos Anzardo, curator and director of Yeti in the territory, highlighted the importance of art for society, as “art humanizes”.
In this sense, he is working on the project Boulevard of Crazy Dreams, which is developed in San José Park under the direction of the Manuel Dositeo Aguilera Culture House, where it is possible to paint outdoors and interact with the public.
The people of Holguín once again had the possibility of having before them works whose reading is always new, if one has the opportunity to return to them, if one observes them again with care and admiration.
