National Audiovisual Festival Por Primera Vez begins in Holguín

The official opening of the XVI National Audiovisual Festival Por Primera Vez (For the First Time) took place on Wednesday in the city of Holguín, with the reopening of the Cine Martí Cultural Complex by the highest political and cultural authorities of the province.
After several years of renovation, the institution, considered one of the most emblematic in the town, reopened its doors to the public, to allow them to once again enjoy the magic of the seventh art on a big screen. 
The ceremony included the screening of the film Looking for Casal, presented by its director Jorge Luis Sánchez, creator of a film that explores the anguish of the Cuban poet Julián del Casal and his constant search for the beauty and mystery of art.
The National Audiovisual Festival, which on this occasion is dedicated to film direction in Cuba, represents a unique opportunity for those taking their first steps on the cinematographic horizon.
Of its current edition, it stands out the competition of works in the categories of fiction, documentary, cartoon and video art, and six work portfolios.
The event has the presence of more than 50 guests from different Cuban provinces, including Mirtha Ibarra, Roly Peña, Sergio Benvenuto and Rafael Grillo.
For the First Time, one of the most important events organized each year by the Provincial Film Center in Holguín, will host until February 24various workshops, conversations, exhibitions and audiovisual screenings.
