The award ceremony of the XXX Provincial Hall of Visual Arts in Holguín, the main exhibition event of that artistic manifestation in the territory, took place here with the presentation of the Electa Arenal Huerta distinction to the artist Roy González Escobar.
The event presented the awards for the contest “Calendario 30. Do you remember…?”, in which Christian Escalona Herrera was the winner with his work “Paralelismo”, from the series “Condición”.
Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar, director of the institution, expressed that the curatorial team of this edition opted to activate sources of memory that come to the emotional imagination of artists and audiences to reflect on local art and present authors, aesthetics and incite the criticism.
The work “Still Life”, by José Emilio Leyva, deserved the recognition of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba; while “Condition”, by Cristian Escalona, was awarded by the Caguayo Foundation.
For his part, the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets honored Vladimir Sánchez Pérez for his series of pieces “Yugo y entropía”, and the Hermanos Saíz Association awarded its prize to Roger Remón.
With the participation of around 40 artists, the Hall, which concluded this Sunday, included a citizen participation contest with allegorical objects from the 80s.
The Provincial Hall of Visual Arts, founded in 1984, offers a space for this artistic manifestation with the purpose of making visible aesthetic proposals and diverse artistic interests and providing spaces for the promotion, dissemination and stimulation of creation. (Source: ACN)
