The Ediciones La Luz publishing house, belonging to the Hermanos Saíz Association in Holguín, presents part of its extensive catalog at the Bogota International Book Fair (FILBo) in Colombia, an important cultural and commercial event that celebrates its 35th edition this year.

In the Gran Salón Raíces, of the Corferias fairgrounds, the campaign to promote the book and the reading “La Luz belongs to you” was presented to the public.

Luis Yuseff, editor-in-chief of the publisher, described the different processes that the design of the campaigns undergoes each year, and highlighted the work of the digital artist Alejandro Zaldívar and the designer Robert Ráez, involved in this process.

Yuseff told ACN that during these days a sample of narrative titles was also presented, including Winter Sea and Other Delusions, by Alberto Garrandés, included in the Mehrlitch tribute collection and recognized with the 2020 La Puerta de Papel Grand Prize.

Books such as "Fatamorgana de amor con banda de música", by Hernán Rivera Letelier, Chilean National Literature Award winner; and “Ya no creo en Lars Von Trier”, by Marvelys Marrero; likewise the novel “La quietud”, by Yunier Riquenes, and the short story book “Zapping”, by Ragnar Wilfredo Robas, included in the compilation Abrirse las Constelaciones, were also presented to the Colombian public.

Two of the most recent titles from the Premio Celestino collection were among the recommended readings: “Las fauces”, by writer Lourdes Mazorra, from camaguey; and “Boustrophilia”, by Robert Ráez.

The presentation of the book “Eduardo Heras León. En el aula inmensa de la vida”, a compilation of interviews conducted in different media with the recently deceased author, gathered by Yunier Riquenes, served as a tribute to the teacher of several generations of Cuban writers, founder of the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Literary Training Center and National Award of Literature.

Ediciones La Luz also participated in the brotherhood meeting for the culture and poetry of both countries, at the National University of Colombia, Yuseff highlighted.

At the meeting, held at the Natividad Pinto Auditorium of the Faculty of Arts, he commented on the vision and importance of Colombian and Cuban writers, influential in the social environment from the mid-19th century to date; and from La Luz the reading of the most recent generations of Cuban authors was proposed, many included in its catalogue.

FILBo, which takes place at the Corferias venue until May 2, has a broad representation of the publishing and cultural sector from various nations, making it the most important commercial event for books and their authors in the South American country.

In this way, it displays a literary, cultural, academic and professional program that brings together all the actors in the book chain in Colombia, along with publishers, distributors and booksellers, with Mexico as the guest country of honor for the third time, after 1993 and 2009. (Source: ACN)
