Eastern province hosts International Educational Film Festival

For the first time in eastern Cuba, the cities of Holguín and Gibara host from March 27 to 31 the Third International Exhibition of Educational Film (Mice), with the aim to promote film culture from an early age and to create a space for teachers and students to present their audiovisual practices.
Ivonne Sánchez Noroña, general coordinator of Mice in Cuba, said that this festival has its origins more than a decade ago in Valencia, Spain and took place for the first time in Cuba in January 2020 with headquarters in La Havana. Its second edition in May 2022 was extended to other Cuban provinces.
She added that in its third edition, Mice arrives for the first time in the cities of Holguín and Gibara, where there is a wide cinematographic movement made by and for children, with projects such as El Almiquí and Voces del audiovisual, respectively.
The program includes films screening every morning in the Lobby of Cine Martí, until the 30th, as well as workshops on audiovisual techniques by Spanish teachers, a visit to the vulnerable community El Paraíso and the opening of the exhibition by Dayamí Pupo, on book designs and illustrations for works of children's literature.
Mice -which in Holguín has had the support of the provincial and municipal directorates of Culture, Education, the Provincial Film Center and the Tele Cristal TV station- also includes in its agenda a visit to La Luz publishing house, which promotes the creation of educational audiovisuals based on literary works, among other activities.
The last day of the event will take place in Gibara with workshops, films screening in schools for children with special educational needs, meetings with the projects "Environmental Connection" and "Voices of the Audiovisual ” and will close at Cine Jibá with the awards for the Conexión Ambiental Contest and the Best Feature Film Podcast for Children.
The International Exhibition of Educational Film organized in Cuba by the Juan Marinello Cuban Institute for Cultural Research, will be held in Havana from April 3 to 9.
