Holguín writer Delfín Prats Pupo received on Friday the 2022 National Literature Award, within the framework of the 31st International Book Fair of Havana.
Prats Pupo expressed the insurmountable value of the award and dedicated it to the Homeland and the Revolution.
"It is a source of great inspiration for me to receive this award, the list of which is enlarged by the names of illustrious women and men of Cuba," said the writer.
Prats Pupo evoked his beginnings in literature and the way in which an interest in writing poetry awoke in him to unite his new discoveries with sensitivity.
He highlighted his time at Lomonosov University, in the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, his work as a translator and his work at the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
The author of "To celebrate the ascent of Ícaro" and "Opening the constellations" mentioned other awards he has received, such as the David of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), that of Literary Criticism and highlighted the presence in specialized magazines.
He highlighted the work of Holguín publishing houses, which disseminated his texts, including "The splendor and chaos" and the anthology "Aguas".
He affirmed that the themes of love and eroticism have constantly haunted him in his poems, but he urged people to remember him not only for evoking those topics, but also for seeking a vast communicative space in each verse.
Cira Romero Rodríguez, essayist and member of the jury that ruled in favor of Prats Pupo, asserted that this is an expected recognition of an authentic man.
"We do not find frustration or discouragement in his work , as he persistently pursues his childhood memories and his humble way of living in the land where he was born", she pointed out.
For his part, Enrique Pérez Díaz, a writer and also a member of the jury, pointed out that he exerts a great literary influence on the new generations of Cuban poets, as his texts are in a new dimension of the search for knowledge.
Delfín Prats Pupo also holds the Youth Teacher Award from the Hermanos Saíz Association.
