Audiovisual Festival "Por primera vez" returns to Holguín

The National Audiovisual Festival “Por primera vez " to take place from February 22 to 26 in the city of Holguín will dedicate its 25th edition to the challenges of contemporary audiovisual production in Cuba.
In press conference, audiovisual director and producer Jimmy Ochoa said that with the aim to promote the development of the seventh art in the province, the event will provide opportunities for young filmmakers to exhibit their works, in addition to managing the restoration of the “Martí" cinema as the main audiovisual theater in Holguín.
The event will feature workshops on production, portfolio making, film processing and production management, which will be taught by experienced filmmakers at Cine Martí.
The outdoor screenings will be carried out with the objective of a greater interaction of the public with the filmmakers and achieve an increase in the number of spectators.
Filmmakers who have works in progress will be able to defend their projects in front of a jury in a pitch (verbal presentation of an idea for an audiovisual), where the winning proposal will receive financial support from the Provincial Film Center for its production.
The contest that is part of this event will close its call on February 10, in which young filmmakers can participate with short films that do not exceed 24 minutes in the genres of fiction, documentary and cartoon.
