2023 City Awards delivered in Holguín

The 40th Holguín Culture Week, a festival of identity and roots where the different artistic manifestations converged on a journey through traditions and history, concluded today in the city of Holguín with the delivery of the City Awards.


This edition of the festival celebrated the 271st anniversary of the granting of the Title of City and Government Tenure to Holguín; and was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Manuel Dositeo Aguilera House of Culture and the poet Delfín Prats Pupo, National Literature Award 2022.

In an artistic gala, the city of Holguín awarded the traditional Baibrama statuette and several mentions in the sections of Architecture, Radio, Written Press, Social Communication, Plastic Arts, Television, Video, Music and Literature.

The Poetry jury awarded "The Book of Revelations", by Luis Manuel Pérez Boitel from Villa Clara; while in Narrative the storybook “Like a fish on a hook” by Rafael Almaguer Inza from Holguín deserved the prize.

"Nothing more beautiful", by Ramiro Sierra Castro was awarded in Music; while the History award was delivered to the work “The Critical Decade of the Nineteenth Century. The revolutionary outcome”, by Hernel Pérez Concepción.

On the other hand, the Promotional Communication Awards were delivered in the categories Campaign, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Audiovisual and Radio.

In the first category, the award was granted to “Looking for the right book”, by Robert Raez, who also obtained the Audiovisual award for the promotional spot of Ediciones La Luz's own campaign.

For its part, the Radio Communication Award recognized the ExpoHolguín 2023 Trade Fair, by Aniel Santiesteban; in Multimedia, the Audiovisual Series for Social Media “10x10 Eggs of dinosinos”, by Gerardo Perdomo from La Luz publishing house, while in Design, it was received by Raúl Dranyi Barea for the visual identity and the set of promotional pieces made for the ExpoHolguín 2023 Trade Fair.

In Plastic Arts, the prize was delivered to works “Utopia of a man who is tired”, “Ojos bien cerrados” and “Elegía”, by the artist Roger David Remón Fuentes.

In the evening, the poet Delfín Prats received the Shield of Holguín, a distinction granted by the provincial government to important personalities and institutions in the territory.

Likewise, the soprano Liudmila Pérez, director of the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater; the historian Hernel Pérez Concepción; and Moisés Álvarez, who is a sociocultural methodologist at the Manuel Dositeo Aguilera House of Culture received the distiction "Hijo Ilustre de Holguín". (Source: ACN)
