Holguín: 40th edition of Culture Week begins today

The 40th edition of the Holguín Culture Week, dedicated to Delfín Prats, 2022 National Literature Award, begins today in this eastern city on the occasion of the 271st anniversary of the granting of the Title of City and Government Tenure.
Odalis del Monte, president of the Organizing Committee and director of the municipal Culture sector, told ACN that a varied program of activities has been conceived to commemorate the four decades of the Manuel Dositeo Aguilera Municipal Culture Center, with emphasis on its historical roots and identity.
The traditional opening parade will take place from the House of the Lieutenant Governor to La Periquera Provincial History Museum, in the surroundings of the Calixto García Park.
This year's edition will include activities to promote the talent of fans in all artistic manifestations and revitalize the different expressions of traditional popular culture and community work, based on the exchange between the different projects that exist in the city.
Likewise, the City Award, the oldest space that accompanies the festivity, called for a new edition in several of its categories, will announce its results in the closing day, on Sunday, which will be held at the Teatro Eddy Sunol.
The National Meeting on Studies of Independence Wars and the performance of the hundred-year-old Hermanos Avilés Orchestra stand out among the main activities, as well as the traditional Great Concert to celebrate the 271 years of the City, which will be held in front of the Cathedral of San Isidoro.
Book presentations, talks, screning of Cuban feature films, as well as the documentary "Cosme Proenza, a huge game with time", by the filmmaker Alejandra Rodríguez Segura, together with the Plastic Arts Hall and the Martí forum "La Patria y la Virtud" ”, will distinguish this edition of the Culture Week.
