With the aim to promote the culture of appreciation, care for the environment, natural environments and community artistic work, the Taguabo 2022 audiovisual contest takes place in Holguín from today until June 12.

Sponsored by the provincial branch of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, through its Cinema, Radio and Television section, the event is distinguished by the participation of more than 30 works, produced by professionals and children from various provinces.

The agenda includes exchanges, photo exhibitions, workshops and the delivery of the Yolanda Guillot distinction, instituted as a tribute to the renowned radio and television actress, to Holguín’s Félix González Vega, broadcaster and teacher of several generations in the radio, and actor Félix Beatón, told ACN Alfonso Bandera, president of the Taguabo organizing committee.

In alliance with the delegations of the Center for Exchange and Reference on Community Initiatives, the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment and the Provincial Directorate of Culture, it stands out the debates around educational audiovisual and experiences in the community by filmmakers Juan Carlos Travieso and César Irigoyen.

According to Bandera, in the radio and television sections two prizes will be awarded in the children's and adult categories, respectively. Among the genres addressed are documentaries, video art, radio art, fiction and video clips.

He added that the projects Picacho, Voces del Audiovisual, Ecoarte and Almiquí, with important results obtained at the national level, are participating in the contest.

Emerged in 2006, with the name of the aboriginal god of rain and fertility, the Taguabo is celebrated in the municipalities of Banes, Antilla and Holguín, and constitutes the ideal platform to address issues such as community work, care for the environment and child protection.
