Holguín to launch new literary campaign

The Provincial Center for Books and Literature (CPLL) in Holguín will launch the campaign "My neighborhood reads" to promote reading in the communities of the territory, as part of the activities to celebrate the Cuban Book Day on May 31.
Madelaine García, deputy director of this institution, said to ACN that the campaign aims to bring books from various national publishers and writers of the creative avant-garde to vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities.
The celebration includes scenic and musical presentations in communities such as Vista Alegre, Guajabales, San Rafael, Sao Arriba, Alcides Pino and the Industrial Zone, among others, as well as the presentation and expo-sale of books by Holguín publishers
The Provincial Book Fair to be held from May 26 to 29 will also include spaces linked to this campaign, with emphasis on popular councils.
"My neighborhood reads" inserts a well-articulated promotion system from digital platforms, social networks and media, where the incentive of reading is reflected in all audiences, especially in young people", she added.
Cultural institutions such as the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), the Provincial Council for the Performing Arts, the José Martí Brigade of Art Instructors, and the System of Houses of Culture in the province will also join these initiatives.
