Holguín convenes the 2022 Best Book Edition Award

With the aim to promote the work of specialists from the Territorial Publishing System (SET), the Provincial Book and Literature Center in Holguín convenes the Best Edition Award, which will be announced during the 30th International Book Fair in this eastern province from May 26 to 29.
Andrés Zaldívar del Río, a specialist in this institution, said to the ACN that each publisher belonging to the SET may send three titles of their choice, with the same number of copies, as long as they correspond to the publication plans for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
The genre of the competing publications is at the disposal of the publishing house they represent, and may be selected even within the texts that made up the special plans and population fund promoted by the Cuban Book Institute.
A jury, made up of prestigious design and publishing professionals, will take into account stylistic coherence, interior and cover design, the location or not of the title within a certain collection, the chosen illustrations and the words on the back cover, as well as the correspondence between the final art and the content of the work, he explained.
The sponsoring institution states that it will not return the books submitted to the contest, unless the publisher, interested in recovering them, collects them or sends a trusted person.
The texts must be sent to the Provincial Book and Literature Center, located at 144 Arias street, corner of Fomento in the city of Holguín, and the admission deadline is May 26, evaluating the inclusion of the volumes that are personally delivered by representatives of the publishers attending the Fair.
The Award will be announced in a at a cultural gala to be held on Saturday, May 28; and it consists of an artistic representation of Don Quixote and an accrediting diploma; In addition, the jury will award as many mentions as it considers appropriate.
