Book Center in Holguín launches the campaign “Writers for life”

The Book Center in Holguín has launched the “Writers for Life” Communication Campaign with the aim to promote reading habit from the exchange between the public, writers and local publishing houses.
Its director Iván Chacón Ochoa, said to the ¡ahora! digital newspaper that after the suspension this year of the Book Fair due to the health situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to carry out this campaign in collaboration with Casa de Iberoamérica, which will support the activities mainly in the work with digital platforms and social networks.
Chacón added that the event, to take place from March 16 to 19, will include panels to address topics related to the literary work of Holguín writers, the challenges of publishing houses and the commercial work of bookstores.
Prestigious writers such as José Luis García and Moisés Mayan will present their works during the campaign, along with professionals from the local publishing houses Ediciones Holguín, La Luz, belonging to the Hermanos Saíz Association, and La Mezquita, belonging to the Union of Historians of Cuba in Holguín.
He said that the campaign will serve to present the new institutional project "Coronavida", composed of a bookstores brigade that will operate within each of the communities in the northeastern territory.
He added that they will provide a telephone service to receive requests from interested parties throughout the year in accordance with the offers that the institution will previously publish.
