Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines, urged workers, engineers, and managers in Holguín to develop strategies to address the country's energy situation, with the aim of providing higher-quality services to the people.
During the meeting held on Wednesday at the Expo Holguín fairgrounds, as part of a working visit to the eastern province, the minister discussed the implementation of the economic and social transformations approved nationwide.

The main actions for implementing these transformations focus on reducing power outages in the province, commented Ruber Reynaldo González, general director of the Electric Company in the province.
De la O Levy emphasized the need to solve local problems through collaboration with state-owned and private companies, in order to create repair workshops and strengthen the sustainability of the service, ultimately achieving better utilization of the energy generated in the region.
The proposal to concentrate the available generator sets in Holguín in fewer facilities seeks to facilitate fuel supply, make better use of generation capacity and offer a more efficient response to interruptions in the National Electric System, highlighted Iskander Concepción Martínez, who directs the Holguín Basic Business Unit of the Generator Sets and Electrical Services Company.

Holguín can incorporate other renewable energy sources, in addition to solar, such as hydroelectric, wind turbines, and biomass, which would allow it to exploit its full productive potential, the Minister stated.
The dialogue addressed objective nine of the Government Program, aimed at recovering the National Electrical Energy System and advancing towards energy sovereignty, and reaffirmed as principles of the mining-energy sector the transition to renewable sources, the control of the State over strategic resources and the improvement of the population as the destination of all results.
Eighty-nine percent of the approved measures already have implementation pathways backed by legal norms, the minister highlighted, who assured that Cuba does not have and will not have fuel in the short term, without that serving as an excuse to stop doing things differently, and called for combating theft in solar parks and other crimes against the electrical system.
The tour of Holguín also included a meeting in Moa with directors of the different entities of the Cubaníquel Business Group, who updated him on economic and production issues.
Those present at the meeting included Joel Queipo Ruíz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the region; Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguín; and workers and managers from the sector.
