The collective exhibition “Miradas” inaugurated at the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts (CPAP) in the city of Holguín, highlights the naive art movement in this eastern Cuban territory.
The exhibit includes over 30 works by eight local artists, including Lorenzo Pantoja Hernández and Cristina Fonollosa Ibáñez.
Under the direction of Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar and the curatorship of Bertha Beltrán Ordoñez, the exhibition presents a journey from the local to the universal through scenes of everyday life, landscapes and popular expressions.
This artistic movement, characterized by a fresh, naive language that departs from the formalities of contemporary art, seeks to be defended and promoted both for established creators and new generations, especially young people outside the Academy.
The exhibition also marks the start of a summer program at CPAP that will include workshops, outdoor exhibitions in parks, and the opening of new gallery spaces.
Naive art, which originated in early 20th-century Europe, represents an innate and popular form of artistic creation that has influenced many great artists worldwide. (Source: ACN)
