The Russian opera “Eugene Oneguin” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, based on the novel by Alexander Pushkin, will premiere on March 15 at the Raúl Camayd hall of the "Eddy Suñol" Cultural Theater Complex in Holguín.
The work, considered a classic of universal literature, will feature voices from the "Rodrigo Prats" Lyric Theater, including soprano Isabel Torres and baritone Carlos Manuel González in the main roles. It will also have the participation of soloists from the Havana lyrical movement as guest figures.
The event will also have the performance of the Holguín Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Orestes Saavedra and the Choir and Ballet of the Holguín lyrical company, said its artistic director Helson Hernández.
In “Eugene Onegin”, moments of intense drama and tragedy come together, from a duel between two men united by friendship, to the illusion of love disturbed by its impossibility.
Produced by the “Rodrigo Prats” Lyric Theater and general direction by soprano Liudmila Pérez, this event marks the closing of the First Russian Day in the city and is sponsored by several local and national cultural institutions. (Source: Prensa Latina)
