Cacocum is a current municipality in the Cuban province of Holguin that has its geographical center on the railway lines, as the center of its daily activities.
A picturesque batey with a sugar mill and a well-known place of passage in eastern Cuba, it is the town that emerged with the name San Pedro de Cacocum.
This municipality has a territorial extension of 661.1 square kilometers and a population of more than 43,000 inhabitants, mostly agricultural workers and a population of marked rural characteristics.
Even today, the center of the activities of the town of Cacocum, revolves around the railway and the central highway, the main access routes that cross its territory and that mark the life, the schedules and the passage of travelers.
