Holguin Grants Title Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba

Photos: Elder LeyvaThe title of Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba was awarded to Doctor in Technical Sciences Osmundo Héctor Rodríguez Pérez, professor of merit at the University of Holguín, with more than 40 years dedicated to teaching and scientific research in the field of Engineering Mechanics. 
During an official ceremony, held in the hall of protocol of the Plaza Major General Calixto Íñiguez Landín, the also Outstanding Son of the City of Holguin, expressed feeling honored with this social recognition which he dedicated it to his sons, students and all those who have collaborated with him.The ceremony was presided over by Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin; George Batista, secretary general of the CTC in the province and Nayda Elisa Díaz, member of the Secretariat of the National Union of Education, Science and Sports Workers.
In his speech, Torres Iríbar said that "it is an extraordinary recognition of the Revolution to an extraordinary man, who stands out for his simplicity and humility".
The Holguin labor movement has more than 10 members who hold this distinction.
