Banes, also known as the archeological capital of Cuba, is immersed in plans to develop national and foreign tourism, including two new camping facilities to be built in as part of the development strategy of the north coast of Holguin.
The new facilities will be located on the Morales and Puerto Rico beaches, respectively, with 50 cabins each and with multiple services to offer recreation opportunities to the people.
In meeting with municipal authorities, the president of the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power in Holguin, Julio Cesar Estupiñan Rodriguez, referred to the extensive tourism development program designed for the North Atlantic that includes almost the entire coast of Banes, which currently has the spa of Guardalavaca as its main tourism destination, which housing capacity will increase with the construction here of the Iberostar Selection Almirante with about 500 rooms that will start operating by the end of this year, according to investors.

The tourism development project also includes the zone that covers from Cabo Lucrecia to the Bay of Banes, contained in the business portfolio of the Ministry of Tourism, and which will be linked to the tourist pole of the Ramon de Antilla, where several facilities are being built.
Banes has a great potential that also includes the installation of two wind farms in the areas of Lucrecia and Punta de Mulas, in order to contribute to the energy development of the municipality and the country, said the President of the Government.

Such projects must be in accordance to the capacity of the territory in goods and services that contribute both to the raising of foreign currency and to the substitution of imports, which will lead to the growth of employment, agriculture and other sectors.
"We have to increase productive chains that help us strengthen our ability to raise foreign currency and provide internal development. Banes has a promising future, but the first to work and fight for achieving that goal is its people,” Estupiñan concluded.
