Holguin University Promotes Teaching of English Language

The 3rd Workshop for English teachers of Higher Education will take place on January 25 and 26 at the University of Holguin, in order to exchange experiences in terms of challenges and expectations of teaching this language in the basic skills comprehension, listening and writing. The event, convened by the British Council, will be attended by teachers from the provinces of Holguín, Las Tunas and Camagüey. Debates will focus on the development of competences to continue updating the European Reference Framework for Languages (MCRERL), to practice the English language in a professional linguistic environment and to become familiar with methodologies and teaching approaches.
The appointment will be an excellent opportunity for exchange among specialists and will be complementary with a group of actions and strategies of the University of Holguín aimed at enhancing the teaching of the Anglo-Saxon language, since one of the competences that a university graduate must show is the mastery of this language.Since 2015, a policy of improvement has been implemented in Cuban universities to raise the standards of teaching the English language, as part of the modifications announced by the Ministry of Higher Education.
