Minister of Transportation Highlights Railway Investments in Holguín

In a visit to the province of Holguín the Cuban Minister of Transport, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, highlighted the investments carried out in the rail network of the country, aimed at improving services to the population through that branch.
 
In this regard, he referred to the financial support of 120 million pesos for the purchase of cars and other means of first necessity, aimed at the integral revitalization of the infrastructures of this sector in the island.

In meeting with workers of the sector in Holguín, Rodríguez Dávila expressed the need to strengthen the protection measures of each of the means acquired for this service.

He insisted on the role that workers of the branch must play in their different directions and the rigor in fulfilling the protection of each one of the means put at the disposal of this service, for the benefit of the population and the national economy.

During his visit the Minister of Transportation met the progress of investments in the Holguin railway terminal, where various actions are developed to refurbish the areas with a view to restarting, as of this summer, the passenger service of the train Holguin- Habana through this via, interrupted for more than a decade.

The operations through this modality of transportation between the eastern city and the Cuban capital will count on 12 new wagons, with a capacity for 536 people and a schedule of departures every three days in a first stage.

In his tour of the province, he also knew about the constructive actions carried out in the new facilities for the technical inspection of cars and locomotives, after their arrival in the eastern territory.
 
Rodríguez Dávila, accompanied by officials of this branch in the eastern territory, visited the municipality of Antilla and assessed the work carried out there in order to improve the rail terminal in that locality of northwest Holguin.
