Some 707, 427 Holguin Voters Ratified the Constitution on February 24

Last February 24, some 707,427 Holguin voters went to the polls to, through their secret and voluntary vote, ratify or not the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, which was submitted to a broad popular consultation from which emanated Various changes to the initial project.
 
Holguin, by the number of registered voters ranks second in the country by the number of eligible voters for the constitutional referendum.

The 2,466 electoral colleges of the province were opened from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm, in which the tranquility, order and transparency of this civic act was maintained during all the time, with high professionalism of the more than 18, 000 electoral authorities of the territory.

Also, in the mountainous region of the municipalities of Cueto, Mayari, Frank Pais, Sagua de Tanamo and Moa, were conditioned 144 polling stations, of which 42 were located in areas of difficult access, with alternative communication means such as messengers, radio amateurs and fanciers.

In addition, 14 special schools were prepared in hospitals of the city of Holguin and the municipalities of Banes, Mayari and Moa; in the Bus Terminals; the Frank Pais International Airport and the Higher Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

The ballot boxes were guarded by some 19, 000 students, who accompanied the democratic exercise until the scrutiny of the ballots.

This February 24th was another historic day for Cuba, in which for the second time, since the Triumph of the Revolution in 1959, Cubans had the opportunity to ratify the Cuban Law of Laws.
