The Rector of the University of Holguín (UHo), Dr. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez, participated in the First Forum of Rectors of Latin America and the Caribbean, held on June 29 and 30 in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil.
The event brought together about one hundred representatives from 17 countries to discuss the challenges and future of higher education in the region.
The meeting, considered a key space for strengthening academic cooperation, addressed issues such as sovereignty, university autonomy, and regional integration.
The presence of the UHo Rector underscored the internationalist vocation of the Holguín institution, which seeks to consolidate collaborative networks for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in research and professional development.
Along with the University of Holguín, the Cuban delegation included representatives from the University of Havana (UH), the Agrarian University of Havana (UNAH), and the University of Pinar del Río.
The participation of these institutions demonstrates the Cuban higher education system's commitment to strengthening strategic alliances within the Latin American context.
Dr. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez signed important collaboration agreements with three prestigious Brazilian universities to strengthen academic and scientific ties.
The agreements were signed with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the Federal University of Southern and Southeastern Pará (Unifesspa), and the Federal University for Latin American Integration (UNILA).
These legal instruments will facilitate the development of joint projects, student and faculty exchanges, and the creation of dual-degree programs, representing a significant step in the international projection of the University of Holguín. (Source: Radio Angulo)
