"This isn't just another Economic Meeting; it's a break to evaluate what we've done in the first half of the year and rethink what we're going to do in the coming months to reach December with better results."
In a meeting chaired by Joel Queipo Ruiz, first secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, with business leaders and representatives from various organizations in the province of Holguín, was evaluated the economic performance of the first half of the year, many of which were unmet.
Various indicators were reviewed, such as merchandise circulation, sales, profits, investments, and physical production, especially affecting agricultural production and consequently the population’s food supply.
Despite the shortcomings, a fiscal surplus was highlighted that helped reduce the budget deficit.
Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguín, emphasized the importance of a detailed analysis of the causes of the failures and their real impact, not only in numbers but also on people’s quality of life.
Specific cases such as the Postal Company, Azcuba, Agriculture, and the Lázaro Peña Cigar Company were examined, seeking solutions through productive linkages and collective work.
Hernández Aguilera insisted on aligning business plans with the Government Plan, monitoring the correlation between indicators such as average wages and productivity, direct and indirect workers, default chains, and the growth of idle and slow-moving inventories, and considering the social responsibility of companies towards the community and their workers.
During the meeting, guidelines for the preparation of the 2026 Plan and Budget were presented, and communication strategies were updated.
It concluded with a call to promote innovative initiatives to improve the economy and pay tribute to the Commander in Chief on the centenary of his birth, linking these efforts to the “One Hundred for the Centenary” movement and the celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.
