Díaz-Canel highlights the application of science in development programs

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, highlighted on Tuesday in Holguín the importance of science and innovation in the Government's development programs, at the conclusion of a visit to sites of economic interest in this eastern Cuban province.
In exchange with members of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, the President commented on the relevant work carried out by the University of Holguín in the projects aimed at achieving more effective support for the provincial and municipal governments for the execution of their development strategies.
He highlighted the contribution of the house of higher studies in the implementation of the Government Management System with Science and Innovation in its different processes and the execution of around 60 projects that respond to national and international programs and to companies and institutions in the territory.
Díaz-Canel also insisted on perfecting the work of the PCC as a fundamental pillar of Cuban society and on the importance of relying on the Union of Young Communists to ensure that its militants later join the ranks of the PCC and ensure the correct functioning of the country in a future.
During a visit to the Mechanical Company "Heroes of July 26" (Holmeca), he learned about the assembly of 12 MTZ Belarus tractors, which had the technical assistance of specialists from the factory in that country and which will be marketed by the Divep company. He was also interested in various machinery such as the A3V three-mouldboard plow and the ADI3 M2 integral disc plow, and the cassava subsoiler SSY.
During the tour he visited the Adel Calderón Fonseca Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS), a productive area with 1,500 hectares of various crops, livestock and forestry, where he was interested in the overfulfillment of the milk plan due to its high demand and the salary of the workers.
At the CCS itself, he also learned about four high-tech covered cultivation houses that would generate 100 tons of vegetables per year and about the “Productos del Valle” mini industry, focused on the production of fruit and vegetable pulps with great demand in the territory.
Accompanying the Cuban President were Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the PCC and first secretary in the province; Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguín; Eloy Álvarez Martínez, Minister of Industry, among other local authorities.
