The Provincial Delegation of Agriculture, together with all the productive forms in the province of Holguín promotes a plan to continue agricultural production aimed at supplying the main markets of the city.
The agricultural sector developed actions to preserve technical resources after the passage of the meteorological event through the northeastern region, which did not affect the crops.
Yusmila Rodríguez Cruz, provincial delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture, commented that they are currently focused on the collection of more than 4 thousand cans of ripe coffee in the mountainous region, representing 51 tons of cherry type.
"As a result of the harvesting of some crops that could be lost due to flooding such as banana, yucca and sweet potato, more than 4 thousand hectares of short cycle crops can be planted in the municipalities at the end of October and November with products such as corn, pumpkin, among others."
Rodríguez Cruz explained that they will continue recovering the current cold season that has been delayed by the rains and the lack of fuel, managing to hold a large end-of-year fair by the end of December. The gradual revitalization of the sector accompanied by different alternatives to maintain production will be key to continuing to produce food for the people.
