The Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Mill (Gihilan), located in the Holguín municipality of Gibara, maintains quality productions, based on the application of science, technological innovation and the productive chain.
This company, among the most important in the Light Industry sector in Cuba, manufactures cotton thread intended for the production of assortments in wide demand, commented Iosvany Segura Leyva, technical director of that entity, located about 30 kilometers from the head city.
Segura said that despite the effects of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, Gihilan diversifies its work into other branches such as mattresses, pillows, sheets and towels, destined for the national market through the Ministry of Domestic trade.
He added that they also have the appropriate invoice to enter the tourism sector in the future and thus replace the purchases currently made abroad.
According to Segura, the factory also takes advantage of productive surpluses and other components, within the Cuban strategy to apply the circular economy and achieve adequate management of solid waste in the industrial sector. It has mattress workshops and plastic productions.
It also stands out the use of production chains with other entities in the country, with the aim to maintain vitality and meet the growing needs of the population in home textile items, he stressed.
The factory also has a movement of innovators responsible for maintaining the vitality of the machines and reducing the import of components and spare parts limited by the effects of the U.S. genocidal policy.
The Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Mill was created on May 21, 1961, promoted by Commander Ernesto Che Guevara as one of the first companies founded by the Ministry of Industries of the nascent Cuban Revolution. (Source: ACN)
