The practitioners of Yoga of the province of Holguín celebrated the International Day of this physical and mental discipline on June 21 with a day of activities that will conclude on June 22 with a debate on the Yoga System in Everyday Life, led by international professors.
The day is inserted within the program of activities carried out during this year in homage to the 25th anniversary of the Ibero-American center, an institution that for 7 years has received yoga practitioners during the Fiesta de la Cultura Iberoamericana.
The program included lectures on Natural and Traditional Medicine at the University of Medical Sciences, talks on "Experiences and benefits of vegetarian food" and practical classes in the discipline.
Thursday agenda included the planting of the tree in the University of Holguín as a symbol of the union of cultures, races and religions in search of spiritual happiness for all, as well as the traditional meditation for peace, harmony and unity among human beings in the Art Center.
Rafael Avila Rumayor, director of the Ibero-American center, said that seven years ago there were very few Yoga practitioners in the province and today there are 8 groups with almost 200 people who assumed the culture associated with good living from mental and spiritual health.
For his part, Henry Parra Paz, project coordinator, thanked the SS teachers Vishwaguruji and SadhviYamuna Puri, who began to transmit the knowledge of this millenary science in Holguín.
Yoga, originally from India, as a traditional physical and mental discipline, is the science that unites the body, the mind, the conscience and the soul.
