Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, in a working visit to the municipality of Antilla on Wednesday, checked some socioeconomic objectives and the local development strategy of the territory.

In his visit, Marrero Cruz was accompanied by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, the governor Manuel Hernández Aguilera, and other political and governmental authorities.

The Prime Minister arrived at the port where the base business units of the maritime services Navegación Caribe, Prácticos de Cuba and Consignataria Mambisa are located.

Frank Arcalla Fernández, director of the entity, addressed the concerns of the group related to the technical state of the naval resources, the repair of the docks and the delay in the payment of utilities.

Marrero insisted on banishing bureaucracy, accommodation and inefficiency to take advantage of the potential of local productive systems.

At another point in the tour, the prime minister learned about the behavior of fishing activity in this territory, with positive results in the catch at the end of the first quarter of the year, with 4.3 tons.

In dialogue with non-state commercial fishermen at the Aserrío base, Marrero was informed about the destinations of the catches based on a work system integrated with the Government, which ensures the supply to the sale points of the town, the participation at weekend agricultural fairs and the opportunity to contribute to social programs aimed at children and Family Care Systems, SAF.

However, there is a group of dissatisfactions related to access to fuel, which is essential for boats, as well as fishing gear and inputs, including safety equipment which are too expensive to acquire in the informal market, inconsistencies in the permits issued by the Labor and Border Guard Body to carry out the activity.

On Wednesday, Marrero Cruz also visited El Mesón, one of the seven centers of the Family Care System in the town, where he exchanged with local residents and insisted on working together to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Antilla.
