With a project to promote the change of energy matrix in the province of Holguín, the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma) develops this strategy, one of the government priorities in Cuba.
The research includes several topics such as the maintenance of solar panels installed in rural and difficult-to-access areas, the use of waste from pig farming used in the production of electricity and collaboration with international projects focused on supporting the growth of renewable energies.
Based on these studies, methodologies have been established for the training of professionals that guarantee the closing of the cycle in results, applying innovation, Alejandro Torres Gómez de Cádiz Hernández, territorial delegate of Citma, highlighted to ACN.
Likewise, the province already has more than 20 solar pumps used in water supply and more than 100 irrigation systems with this technology installed in the municipalities of Báguano and Banes, which allows maintaining services to the population, agricultural performance and reduce the use of fossil fuels, he noted.
He highlighted that together with the education sector, good practices diploma courses are promoted to take advantage of other potentialities of biomass, wind and water, which are exploited in the municipalities of Mayarí and Moa.
Holguín has more than 200 scientific projects, also associated with food sovereignty, government management, the use of new technologies and the development of vulnerable neighborhoods, among others. (Source: ACN)
