Chaired by Yunia Pérez Hernández, deputy governor of the province, the economy meeting held this Thursday at the Expoholguín fairgrounds analyzed various issues impacting the socioeconomic activity in this eastern territory.
After checking the agreements related to the delivery of idle land for self-consumption, it was known that of 136 entities, 22 have this heritage, and only 55 have made the requests. In this regard, the vice governor indicated to facilitate the process, since this is another of the actions to contribute to food sovereignty.
On the other hand, Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, director of Education in the province, reported on the progress of the creation of children's houses, an alternative that responds to the “Adelanto de la mujer " programs and demographic policies. To date, children's houses have been created, which have responded to the needs of 216 working mothers.
Iván Pérez Rojas, provincial director of Economy and Planning, pointed out that in addition to being a social and family benefit program it has an impact on the economy, since it favors the incorporation of women to production and services.
Pérez Rojas presented the financial economic analysis for February, whose results are unfavorable in most indicators. he meant the difficult scenario, mediated by the intense drought, the occurrence of fires and the situation with material assurances for productive processes and services, added to the factors derived from external policies.
He said that the negative results go through the non-compliance of 130 physical productions of the agricultural, manufacturing and exportable ruble areas; in the latter, nickel production has great weight, which does not reach the desired levels, at times of high market value.
Added to this, more than twenty companies present losses, so they do not contribute to the State budget.
More than 4,000 tons of food was not produced, which also affects the decrease in total sales, profits and mercantile circulation, and generates an inverse effect on inflation, which tends to keep growing, he said.
He also referred attention to the food sovereignty and nutritional education plan, the increase in livestock modules and the practice of agricultural extension to alleviate deficiencies and improve productions in adverse conditions.
Law 145 on Territorial and Urban Planning was also presented at the meeting, as well as the program for the upcoming ExpoHolguín 2023 International Trade Fair, whose slogan is For Cuba to grow, which is expected to be attended by important figures from the business, political and Government of Cuba and other participating countries, so it will be an opportunity to establish and consolidate businesses.
