Minister of Education checks preparations for 2022-2023 school year in Holguín

The 2022-2023 school year will begin on November 28 in the province of Holguín with a coverage of 96.4 percent, benefited from the incorporation of 580 graduates of pedagogical schools, it was informed at work meeting held on Tuesday with Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, Minister of Education in Cuba, with directors of the sector in the territory and representatives of organizations involved in the preparations.
Accompanied by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Holguín, and Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, Governor, Velázquez Cobiella called not to neglect what has been achieved in teacher training based on the results in schools and pedagogical schools, since the province still uses many alternatives that cover needs, but not everything that implies the development of the teaching-educational work.
As for the schools materials, she meant the limitations of resources for the stage, hence the need for the care and protection of those available.
In this sense, Velázquez Cobiella noted the country's effort to guarantee the essential minimum and how to take advantage of and guide, based on the diagnosis of each student, the possibility of accessing textbooks available in digital format.
Regarding the school uniform, Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, director of Education in the province, explained that the bonuses have already been delivered for the new entry of each educational level.
At this time, its distribution is prioritized in the five municipalities of the Turquino Plan and the provincial capital, mainly for preschool and fifth grades, since not all lower and upper garments are yet available for the rest of the teachings, a more critical situation in the case of junior high school pants.
"To the extent that the industry produces and in accordance with the existing inventories in the Universal Company, the supply of the other territories will continue and the sale will proceed," he said.
Regarding the school network in Holguín, Batista Rodríguez referred to the progress of the maintenance and repair work being undertaken in various institutions, the prospects of increasing capacities for day care centers with the adaptation of premises in large educational centers, and the creation of children's houses, a theme that fails to materialize in the territory.
He explained the program to confront cultural colonization and the actions of the teaching-productive strategy that Technical and Professional Education develops, comprehensive attention to the IPVCE and the training and improvement of young people unrelated to study.
At this time, attention is being paid to the continuity of study, the preparation of the more than 2,000 twelfth-grade students for the entrance exams to Higher Education in Mathematics, Spanish, and History, to be held on the 15th, 18th, and 22nd of November, in that order and the culmination of the evaluations corresponding to the 2021-2022 school year in the rest of the academic grades of the different educational levels.
