Innovative project impacts young people in Holguín

The socio-educational project “Rutas y andares de la FEEM holguinera ", through culture and history, shows its values of social transformation in young people from High School in situations of vulnerability.
This project, the only one of its kind in the country, responds to a recurring approach in the assemblies of the Student Federation of Secondary Education (FEEM) of the eastern province, with the creation of a village located in the Ciudad Escolar Mayor General Calixto García Íñiguez, in the head city.
With a capacity for 50 visitors, the facility has 14 areas for fun, learning and exchange of young people with specialists from various sectors who offer educational talks on topics of prevention, health and conferences on the local and national history.
Lina Margarita Ramírez Lahera, deputy director of Education in the province, told ACN that a positive impact is perceived in the more than 250 students from all the municipalities who have already visited the facility during the five months that the project has been running.
This project, said the official, also serves as a stimulus for student leaders from the territory who has participated in the activities together with pre-university students.
She explained that rotations will continue throughout the school year with a variety of cultural and sports activities, which will allow raising the preparation of the members of the FEEM, always linking the useful to the pleasant.
Litza Elena González Desdín, student leader and founder of the project, thanked the authorities of the territory who made it possible to have that much-desired space, with an investment of more than six million pesos, where they promote tempered political-ideological preparation for current Cuban youth.
The students who visit the facility reside mainly in the mountainous areas of the province who, with the guidance of historians, take tours of emblematic sites such as Loma de la Cruz, the birthplace of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, in Biran; the Chorro de Maíta Site Museum, in Banes, and the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery, in Santiago de Cuba.
