Holguín urges solution for agricultural processes

The Agriculture sector in Holguín urges the solution of various agrarian processes to give continuity to decree laws 259 and 300, which establish the delivery of land in usufruct and favor the implementation of the 63 measures aimed at seeking the transformation of this sector in Cuba, severely impacted due to climate change, the financial crisis and the US blockade against the Caribbean nation for more than six decades.
On this important issue, ahora! digital newspaper spoke with Yordanis Rodríguez Cruz, Head of the Department of Land and Tractor Control, of the Provincial Delegation of Agriculture, who said that “man and land are the most precious resources we have today, therefore, alternatives must be sought to advance and speed up processes that usually last more than 150 days.
“We want to shorten the steps so that the documents are in the hands of producers as fast as possible, with the aim of increasing production, especially for advanced producers. We have identified areas in municipalities dedicated to sugarcane production such as "Urbano Noris", Cacocum and "Calixto García”, with large extensions of land.
“Land continues to be delivered to those interested in making it produce and start from scratch, because all idle land must be used for food production. There are still inefficiencies, but we already have 64 registrars in the province, in the municipal delegations and since the tasks are complex, the municipal delegates can involve their workers in this activity”.

“We also work the processes of adjudication of inheritance, one of the issues with the largest number of complaints and claims in Agriculture, since there are currently more than 900 cases in process that still have problems with the legal terms."
“A schedule is defined to conclude them in June, with various joint actions with the aim that people, as of July 1, have the possibility of starting procedures within of the term established by Law, which is 90 days to promote the person and 90 for Agriculture to allow the solution of the legal process".
"Any person who feels entitled to inherit, by demonstrating filiation and permanent work on the land five years before the death of the owner, as established by decree 125/91, can address as soon as possible to our office on Mondays , because it is the day that the registrars attend in the municipal delegations, so that they promote the process because as of July 1, any person who presents outside the terms, the Law establishes that the land becomes part of the patrimony of the State ".
Rodríguez Cruz concluded that the purchase and sale of land in Cuba is only authorized between owners and the State and asserted that in all current agrarian processes, great effort is being worked in order to accelerate procedures and advance on these important tasks.
