Cuba and the Romanian Orthodox Church strengthen cooperation

Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești, Patriarchal Vicar and Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, received the Cuban Ambassador to Romania, Alexander Valentín Rodríguez Salazar, in Bucharest today to discuss understanding and cooperation agenda, according to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Cubaminrex.

During the exchange, the importance of interreligious and cultural rapprochement was highlighted, as well as the strengthening of ties between religious and cultural institutions of both countries.

Areas of common interest for future projects were identified, including heritage preservation initiatives, academic exchanges, and cultural activities that promote mutual understanding.

Rodríguez Salazar expressed his gratitude for the Romanian Orthodox Church's willingness to maintain an open and respectful dialogue and reiterated Cuba's commitment to peace, multilateralism, and the defense of international law.

For his part, Varlaam expressed the Romanian Orthodox Church's commitment to continue promoting initiatives that foster solidarity and shared humanist values ​​between the two peoples.
