The city of Gibara benefits from a renovation project that includes rehabilitation, repair and construction of houses, multi-family buildings, parks, squares and the malecon, the latter designed to protect the coastal city from natural phenomena.

During a meeting to assess the progress of the project, Luis A. Torres Iribar, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Julio Cesar Estupiñan, president of the People's Power Assembly in the province, among other local authorities, checked the construction works carried out in the malecon of Gibara and adjacent works that will bring life and beauty to the promenade.

The top officials checked the local development project of the Ministry of Internal Trade (MINCIN), which is working in the renovation of an unoccupied premise located in one of the corners of Plaza Da Silva. The new facility will provide gastronomic offers and cultural activities with view in front of the sea.

The cladding of buildings facing the sea with jaimanite slabs to avoid corrosion due to saltpeter is also included in the project.
They also toured the former elementary school Ovidio Torres, where nine comfortable homes are built for 33 people, whose homes were devastated by hurricane Irma.

In Gibara, renovation is noticeable thanks to the project designed to give the tourist resort new attractions for the benefit of its economic and social development.
