About 700 Central American migrants were arrested by United States Border Patrol agents on that side of the border, local sources in Sonora, Mexico, confirmed on Wednesday.

This is the largest detention of migrants registered in the current fiscal year at Arizona border, according to spokesmen of the Office of Customs and Border Protection. They showed a video taken from Mexican territory that show border patrol vans picking up and arresting.

In recent days, migrants from Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala have been arrested in groups of hundreds, the same sources said.

The Central Americans have opted to move from Mexico to the United States to stop them and be capable of initiating the procedures, even though they know they can be deported.

They also do it to avoid violence and loot by traffickers who mistreat and deceive them.

Just on Tuesday, the Mexican Federal Police rescued about 280 Central American migrants, who were transported in two container trailer trucks, most of them women and children, including an 18-month-old baby with a severe case of chickenpox.

Migrants from Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador and Honduras were transferred to the facilities of the Sub-delegation of the Attorney General's Office, where mattresses, food and water were provided.
