Health authorities in the province of Holguín have increased the restrictive measures and epidemiological surveillance in various municipalities, given the increase in autochthonous cases of COVID-19, even when the eastern territory remains in the phase of new normality.
In the 13 districts concentrating the 94 active focal points of the new coronavirus, active sanitary researches have been increased, as well as the disinfection in work centers, schools and facilities of the economy and services, the mandatory use of the nasobuco (face mask) and the suspension of events that generate mass of people, among others aimed at maintaining hygiene and social distancing.
Dr. Alcides Lazo, an official of the Provincial Directorate of Public Health, said to the Cuban News Agency that in the case of Moa, there are eight outbreaks, including one of greater complexity, where from an imported case, 37 have been confirmed as autochthonous, six direct contacts and 31 secondary to these have been diagnosed, an example of the rapid spread of the virus.
He added that the people diagnosed are concentrated in the Juan Manuel Paey and Rolando Monterrey health areas, located in this mining municipality, about 200 kilometers from the provincial capital and there are 186 contacts under surveillance, to whom the PCR studies have been performed according to established schedules.
Lazo noted that for better control of this area, community work is being strengthened and the establishment of quarantine measures modified, including movement restrictions and home entry, complying with the parameters indicated in the plan to face the COVID-19, classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
Holguín also maintains surveillance of acute respiratory infections in the premises authorized in each municipality and until the closing of this report more than 30 patients admitted for this cause were reported.
In the last fifteen days, the province has accumulated 192 confirmed cases, of which 180 are autochthonous, 12 imported and more than 56 percent presented symptoms, for an incidence rate of more than 18 per hundred thousand inhabitants in this period.
