The coastal municipality of Gibara, in the northeastern province of Holguín, launched on January 20 the first edition of the anual magazine of the Municipal Assembly of the People's Power, which will reflect the economic, political and social life of that coastal territory.

In the presentation, as part of the activities of the 42 Gibara’s Culture Week, Enrique Doimeadiós Cuenca, historian of the city, referred to the long publishing tradition of that region, with the arrival of the printing press in 1873 and the appearance of the first publication two years later.
Doimeadiós pointed out that the magazine will serve, centuries later, so that future generations from Gibara know the work of their predecessors. He also praised the quality of the articles and the photographs selected for the original edition, with a high polygraphic invoice.

Nercy Fernandez Sarmiento, president of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power and general director of the magazine, said that readers will be able to find events that marked the life of the town as the celebration of the bicentennial of the also known as Villa Blanca de los Cangrejos and the International Film Festival, successor of the Non-Budget Film Festival, founded by Humberto Solás.
He added that the articles on the development of tourism in the region and the promotion of agriculture are particularly important, as well as the tribute to the 40 years since the founding of the Local Bodies of People's Power.
