The first edition of the festival of choral groups "Vocalis" began in the city of Holguín with a wide program of activities that includes concerts and talks, which will extend until November 15.

The event, organized by the Holguín vocal group Monier, aims to create a space where national and international vocal talent can meet.

"There are festivals and competitions in Cuba where trios and choirs participate, but not vocal groups. That is why we felt the need to create this non-competitive event, which we hope will have the participation of foreign groups in the future," said Milagros Monier, director of the group.

Highlighting the role of vocal groups in Cuba, revitalizing the genre, and sharing with students and professionals from music schools through conferences, panels and artistic presentations, are some of the goals proposed by its organizers.

During the day, the two-person exhibition "Kemchs & Lira" was also opened to the public, which brings together pieces by the artists Arturo Kemchs, from Mexico, and the Venezuelan Iván Lira, as part of the work carried out by both for the First Biennial of Political Humor held during the month of June in Havana.
