The first edition of the Oral Storytelling Festival “Mundo de Palabras” (World of words) concluded in Holguín with the staging of the play "Fábulas de Cuba", by the local company Palabras al Viento.

Under the direction of Fermín López and with texts by Miguel Barnet, the company presented to the public at La Periquera Provincial Museum the history of national culture traditions through dances, fables and songs.

On the closing day, the president of the Oral Storytelling section of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, Jesús Lozada, recalled the recent 20 years of Palabras al Viento, a theater group that has defended Holguín culture in all possible ways.

The storytellers are the blood of the people and it depends entirely on them that the events of the country remain over time, he stated.

Likewise, the occasion was conducive for the territory's institutions to recognize the company for its work over so many years and, in turn, launch the call for the second edition of the contest, to be held in 2025.

The event was attended by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez first secretary of the PCC in the province; Rachel García Heredia, president of the National Council of the Performing Arts and other local authorities.

The World of Words Oral Storytelling Festival emerged with the objective of positioning this genre alongside theater as artistic manifestations in the public's preference based on a broad program of activities that included staging, concerts and conversations. (Source: ACN)
