The awards ceremony for the 43rd edition of the 26 de Julio National Literature Contest, convened by the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) to disseminate the work of prominent specialists, creators and researchers, took place on Tuesday at the mausoleum of Lucía Íñiguez Landín in the Plaza de la Revolución of Holguín.
The collection of poems “Obertura cubana” and the Décima notebook “The clandestine dignity”, by Holguín wirter Ronel González Sánchez, won awards in both categories.
In award ceremony, chaired by Colonel Fernando Fernández García, second head of the Department of the Political Directorate of the FAR, together with officials of the Party, Culture, Uneac and the Holguín Military Region, it was highlighted the value of the contest to celebrate the patriotic, military and internationalist consciousness of the Cuban people.
“The poetry book is a journey through the history of the independent deeds of the 19th century and the period of the Neocolonial Republic, while the Décima notebook focuses on the deeds of the Sierra Maestra and other key moments in national events,” explained González Sánchez.
This year’s edition of the National Contest included the categories of biography, testimony, research, poetry and Décima, and more than 90 works were received from different parts of the Island.
