Holguin Book Fair Opens New Spaces for Reading

Photo: Carlos RafaelThe 27th Book Fair in Holguin, to be held from March 28 and April 1, will promote new spaces in order to encourage the habit of reading. The event will gather important personalities, winners of national prizes in literature and history, who will address the cultural space "The Kingdom of this world" with headquarters at Casa de la Musica of this eastern Cuban city.
Among them, local writers Luis Yusseff, Jamila Medina and José Luis Serrano, winners of the National Poetry Prize Nicolas Guillén. Also, Atilio Caballero awarded with the Alejo Carpentier prize; Reynaldo García, Casa de las Américas Award and Ever Perez Concepción, National History Award, among others.
This year’s edition of the Fair features China as guest of honor. In this regard the Chinese Community in Holguin proposes the space "The Yin and Yang". Moisés Mayán, poet and promoter of the Provincial Center of the Book and Literature (CPLL) said that this institution will launch literary proposals related to the millennial nation as The lion dance, The Chinese in Havana, The diligent bee and The daughter of the Dragon King.
