Díaz-Canel received Qiu Xiaoqi, special representative of the Government of the People's Republic of China for Latin American Affairs.
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received yesterday Qiu Xiaoqi, special representative of the Government of the People's Republic of China for Latin American Affairs.
After commenting on the broad work agenda developed by the Chinese delegation, which included exchanges at different levels and tours of projects of interest in various provinces, the Head of State valued as strategic and special bilateral relations, which have managed to overcome the tests of time and are an example among socialist countries.
This visit, he considered, confirms the firm consensus of the leadership of both nations to continue fostering ties, and demonstrates, once again, the sensitivity and understanding of President Xi Jinping on the problems facing Cuba.
The upcoming celebration, in September 2025, of the 65th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic ties between the largest of the Antilles and the Asian giant, a "transcendental event to strengthen political dialogue," he said, is of utmost importance. Party ties, he said, are the cornerstone of our bilateral relations.
As one more step to expand cooperation in various areas, he also valued this visit of the Chinese delegation to Cuba, which is a key link to establish solid foundations for the community of shared future between the two countries, based on the consensus built by different generations of leaders and the decision to move towards greater integration and interconnection.
He also emphasized that the activities carried out during the visit give continuity to the conversations held with the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, as well as ratify the political will to advance relations and find joint solutions at the highest level.
He also expressed his willingness to develop business cooperation projects that will allow mutual benefits.
In a special way, he asked to extend cordial greetings to "our friend and brother" Xi Jinping, who will always be welcomed in Cuba with affection and respect.
He also thanked, on behalf of the Party, the Government and the Cuban people, the strong expressions of support that China has offered in difficult times, and the support for the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. Government, and against the inclusion in the list of alleged State sponsors of terrorism.
China will always be able to count on Cuba and on our unwavering support in the defense of its national integrity, he stressed, while confirming the firm support for the global initiatives promoted by the Chinese President, which have a high impact on the development of the global south.
For his part, the Special Representative of the Chinese Government highlighted the pleasure of meeting again with the Cuban leader, and conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping "to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and to you".
He underscored the fruitful results of his stay in Cuba and the importance of the in-depth exchanges held with Cuban authorities, which made it possible to advance in the implementation of the consensus reached by the presidents of both nations in their most recent meeting in Moscow.
China, he reaffirmed, attaches great importance to the development of ties with Cuba and will continue to support the island in the midst of the complex situation it is going through.
This visit, he confirmed, has not only allowed us to appreciate the current reality of the country, but also the strength of the Cuban people.
"China and Cuba are good friends, companions and partners," he reflected, adding that in recent years an unprecedented historical height of bilateral relations has been reached.
Present at the meeting on the Cuban side were Political Bureau member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla; the head of the International Relations Department of the Party Central Committee, Emilio Lozada Garcia; as well as other ministers and officials of the Foreign Ministry.
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Hua Xin, ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Havana, and by the large delegation visiting Cuba. (Source : Granma)
