Cuba Disapproves of Expulsion of Russian Diplomats

The Cuban Government has rejected the expulsion of Russian diplomats from several countries and called to respect the norms of international law and the letter of the UN Chapter. 'We are concerned over this incident; this action is not in keeping with 'dialogue, understanding and cooperation that should prevail in international relations,' General Director of Press and Communication of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Alejandro Gómez, remarked at a press briefing.
This conflict spurred by U.K., U.S. and a group of member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization broke out without an impartial investigation into allegations first claimed by London that Moscow had a former Russian intelligence officer -it has even let go years ago- allegedly poisoned in England.
Cuba considers cooperation must prevail over confrontation and rejects unilateral measures that attempt against international stability, Gonzalez remarked.
On Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Minister, Serguei Lavrov, turned down what he termed as cheek of the West by expelling more than 140 diplomats from 25 countries.
When governments expel one or two diplomats and they whisper to our ears to apologize them, we then understand that the decision was made under colossal pressure, Lavrov stressed.
Regrettably, these are Washington's ways these days at the international arena, continued the Minister who referred to allegations launched against Moscow, without any evidence, after the alleged poisoning of double agent Serguei Skripal and his daughter Julia last March 4 in the English city of Salisbury.
So far, 16 countries of the European Union, U.S., Ukraine, Australia, Canada and Moldova joined the diplomatic boycott initiated by London and Washington. / PL
