The director of the Center for Demographic Studies at the University of Havana, Antonio Aja, warned of Cuba's complex demographic situation, given the aging trend, since 24.4 percent of the total population, at the end of 2023, was 60 years old and older.

The recent sanction by a Florida court against cruise ship companies aims to frighten those who do business with Cuba and reinforces the ban on U.S. citizens visiting the archipelago, Granma newspaper denounced Wednesday.

Cuba is currently making progress in recovering the damage caused by Tropical Storm Idalia, which became a hurricane after crossing the country's western region on Monday evening.
