Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Monday called for the lifting of the economic blockade against Cuba and criticized the "unusual media hype" surrounding the protests on the island.

Cuba is determined to develop food production, promote the growth of exports and facilitate foreign investments for the benefit of the domestic economy, said the head of the Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ministry Rodrigo Malmierca.
